Thinking about buying an Air Rifle (used to be in a shooting club many years ago but 'proper' rifles are now banned).

Purpose is Target Shooting only.

Not looked at Air rifles for ages so don't know what options are around or prices. Currently just got a very basic .177 pistol

Any advice or tips?

I had a Chinese .22 which I used to shoot squirrels.

Either the gun was pretty near useless or I was a crap shot...

Might be your aim Stods

I've also got a chinese .22 but with telescopic sights :thumbright:
Only trouble is the scope seating on the rifle is sh1t = chinese, so it steadily comes loose over time.
However, bagged 27 squirrels + few maggies (only in my garden)

Hoovie, with a scope, if just for practice its fine once zeroed in and cheap but not trendy.

Used to have a BSA Meteor .22 with and English telescopic sight. Not many varmints (rodents) escaped me.

I bought a Chinese SMK Co2 package for about £130. Included a good scope, bag etc. Have a look http://www.airguns-online.co.uk/

It is a bolt action single shot with two Co2 cartridges which give a good power output. I bought the gun to clear some rats that were coming after the bird feed in the garden. I zeroed it in to a target in my designated kill box area and quickly dispatched about 7 rats cleanly with shots through the head.

I have not seen any rats for a few months now but I am waiting. :thumbright:

It is a right pain now that you can't buy the actual guns mail-order anymore, but have to go to the shop physically.
Looking at a Rohm Twinmaster Action and the best deal is at a shop in Norwich - save £30 on the pistol and pay £100 to drive there and back to collect

There is a big place near me, however - under 10 miels away. They claim to have 1,200 shotguns and 800 rifles in stock
Also got an impressive array of air rifles and pistols

I did not realise the law had changed, I must have had one of the last mail order guns back in September last year.

What about Stevens & Johnson in Barnstaple?
