Anyone seen this prog - ITV afternoons.

Seen it a few time - basically they spend 60 minutes (hence the name) redoing 3 or 4 rooms in a house. That 60 minutes includes all preparation and finish, plus room furnishings and dressings going back.

I like this program as no matter how bad my DIY work is, it looks good compared to the finish they get when they paint over wallpaper, roller over picturerails and borders, only use one coat of paint, wallpaper full of bubbles, no cutting in between wall and ceiling, etc, etc - the list goes on and on.....

Great stuff

It gives customers stupid ideas on how long a job takes

Thing is, Handy - you could do a job in that length of time if you wanted it to look as bad as it usually does on that prog

I reckon the people write in not to get the makeover, but to get the freebies they seem to throw in each time. At the end, they say how much it cost excluding labour and normally about £15k+ (plasma TVs, new suites, dining tables, etc)

As Handy says its gives people unrealistic ideas on time - and yes its terrible, it should be changed to "How to f*ck up your house in an hour"

I would like to see the place 6 weeks later, whether the owners have changed the colours, or stripped the paper.

I saw it a few years ago, and could see quite a few faults, the other one with carol smiley was famous for getting it wrong lol

saw this quote about ther programme:

"Someone I know has had her house made over by the team, although it hasn't been shown yet. They do do it literally in 60 minutes, but they only decorate the area of the rooms that is shown on TV, so they will do one or two walls, shove some furniture back in and leave the rest for you to finish yourself. They do leave all the necessary paint, paper etc - but it is quite a job to then finish all the rooms in your house. "

This quote from someone else is a bit more interesting:

"I used to go out with one of the designers. Boy have I got some stories!! My lips are sealed, except to tell you she is one dirty minx "

I don't see the attraction in a 60 minute makeover, surely it would be better to just take the day over it?! People would still watch!!

I have to agree some of the finishes are awful, surprised they manage to find any trade people to work on the show...

i actually hate all of those programs, 60minutes screwover, diy sos etc etc.

they give the real trades bad names. like Handyman stated, when we price to do the work they think we are taking them for a ride because it takes an hour not a week.
