I am wondering if it would do any harm to give my black door a 3rd coat of Dulux Weathershield.

I want to de-nib by wetsanding with 2-3000 grit w&d paper, then repaint it. I want it glossier and smoother. Would it do any harm to do this?

You are wasting your time with that high a grit really. 600 or 800 would suffice, 1000 if you must. I expect a prop would use 400 but you need a light touch as it can be aggressive.
An extra coat of paint is not going to hurt things.
