I have a bit of wiring to do in an old garage that had to be rewired in single core cable as there is no longer cable in the conduit now. i have 3 switches, a 2-way switch, Intermediate, and another 2-way switch. i was just wondering if anybody would be able to draw a diagram on how to wire it. I have a fairly good idea but would rather make sure before I do it! Your help would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hey thanks for your reply. Someone told me that it would be different doing it with singles as the feed would have to go to the switch first? Any chance someone could fill in a diagram for me? Much appreciated.

Not very good at drawing diagrams so will explain it in simple terms.

Forget everything you know about wiring in twin and 3 core and earth is the first logical step

here goes

neutral goes from supply to each light and ends at the last point
earth goes from supply to each point be it a light or a switch and ends at the last point.

Live supply goes to common on the first switch, from there to the intermediate go two live cores (L1 and L2)

from the intermediate to the last two way switch go 2 more lives (L1 and L2) making four lives at this switch.

from the last two way switch you have already got two reds from the intermediate, the last core is the live to the first and all other light fittings.

Hopefully that explains it

Any more questions feel free to ask

Nick

Mabe Sparkydude you could do a diagram: of single core 3 way switching to go on this site for others to follow with a few pics' as it helps as a picture tells a 1000 tales

I think I get this now I have had a beer

I'll dig out some switches when I get chance (could be a few weeks) and if I can get it to work I'll do a diagram.
