American List
100 Skills Every Man Should Know: 2008's Ultimate DIY List

After translating any American terms into English, what percentage do you reckon you know? (tip to work out percentage - stick a "%" sign at end of number you know  )

I reckon I am about 85% (ignored the "teach your kids" ones)

and #39..... I will never know and never learn

That was really interesting.
I'm not a man but I've sorted out the ones that I have never done or haven't a clue how to!

4. Replace fan belt
7. Use a stick welder
29. Use a French knife
.....What is a French knife?
32. Fix a toilet tank flapper...if it's to do with the ball valve or ball cock I have done it!
37. Fix a faucet cartridge
51. Run rapids in a canoe
53. Skipper a boat
55. Tackle steep drops on a mountain bike
56. Escape a rip current

60. Floods
61. Tornados
78. Calibrate HDTV settings

80. Ditch your hard drive No idea how you do that but I can remove things from the computer.
83. Coolant hydrometer
93. Torque wrench
94. Air wrench
96. Sand blaster

100. Feeler gauges

I reckon you'd need a lifetime to master all of those, but even so there are many omissions that I can do.

A french knife is a cook's knife, with a wider blade used for slicing and chopping.

Stoday,

Never heard one called that but I guess it's an American list. Another one off the list then! :thumbright:
