Mechanical Wall Tie:
![]() |
This type of remedial wall tie has radial expansion sleeves which are sequentially tightened at each end to grip the walls of the drill holes into which they are inserted. The mechanical expansion wall tie is well suited for use on domestic dwellings having good quality masonry. Torque settings are automatically controlled by a unique part threaded tall nut arrangement which prevents over-tightening of the tie. |

A hole having a diameter equal to the diameter of the tie is drilled through the near most leaf and into the subsequent leaf to a depth of 55-75mm. |
![]() |
Debris is cleared from the drill holes using a blast of air from a hand pump or from a compressor. |
![]() |
The mechanical tie is inserted into the hole and the tie is tightened with an electric screwdriver, whereupon the tall nut turns the tie rod to tighten the tie in the remote leaf. |

At a factory set torque level the tall nut begins to turn and move down the tie bar to tighten and set the expansion mechanism in the near most leaf. The hole is then made good. |
