Powder Coating and Galvanising

Galvanised steel

These are not DIY procedures and would need to be sent to a specialist.

Powder coating is applied using specialist equipment and baked in an oven to harden the surface, giving a very hardwearing quality surface finish. Available in a wide range of colours. Powder coating is far superior to paint and is much thicker and does not contain any volatile organic compounds (VOC).

Galvanising is used as it offers an excellent protective coat which last in excess of 25 years in some cases. A very good base prior to powder coating or painting exterior metalwork, especially in coastal areas. It is most commonly applied by dipping the item into a large tank of molten zinc. It must be applied to bare metal. Special care must be taken with painting afterwards.
