alarm mines |
Protecting my property and family is high in my priority list and I must assume that everyone else feels the same! unfortunately in today's world the law is too soft on criminals but coincidentally is hard on people who harm criminals who are attempting to protect their own property or family, this is not an ideal situation!!!
Unfortunately it's the poor hard working tax payer that picks up the bill for crime, we pay for the Police, we pay for the judicial system, we pay for the legal aid commission, we pay for the prison service (crime school as it is better known), then we pay for the rehabilitation of offenders (probation officers and the like).
As I have stated on other pages of this site, if a burglar wants to get in he will do, no alarm or security device is infallible but you can make it as hard as possible for him (or her). Burglar alarms are not perfect as they can easily be disabled or the auto-dialler can be "engaged".
Let me ask you a question-
Have you ever heard a burglar alarm sound and ignored it assuming that either it is a false alarm or that someone else is attending to it?
The answer is probably yes!
Let me ask you another question-
Have you ever heard a loud gun shot?
I bet the gunshot made you alert and wondered what the hell was going on and I bet the Police were not long at arriving in the vicinity!
Well Alarms do exist that when tripped fire a blank 12 Bore cartridge, these are called ALARM MINES and are an excellent way to ward of burglars and the like, these are very simple alarms which are very effective!

The alarm mine above is pictured with a 12 bore cartridge as the gun shop had no blanks!!!! The shot has been removed from the cartridge and is perfectly safe!

1. Attach Alarm Mine in vertical position to a convenient tree, fence post, door frame etc. The cocking piece should be positioned upwards.
2. Pull the cocking piece to the limit and insert the safety pin through the hole.
3. Pull the cocking piece again until the sear engagement slot is visable and insert the sear.
4. Attach the loose end of the trip wire to a firm object so the wire is stretched across the path that an intruder might take.
5. Place the 12 Bore Blank into the slot at the end of the alarm mine.
6. Gently pull the string attached to the safety pin to remove it from the Alarm mine. The alarm is now armed and the slightest pressure on the trip wire will release the striker and fire the blank!

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Please treat the alarm mine with respect and care and never deviate from the operating instructions. Failure to follow these instructions could result in injury.
2. The alarm mine is only intended to alert the property owner of a trespasser and has not been designed to inflict injury of any kind.
3. Never under any circumstances put anything other than a 12g Black powder Blank into the alarm mine.
4. The 12g Black powder Blank will discharge a small amount of black powder and will also make a very loud BANG.
5. Only mount the alarm mine on your own property and never mount the device indoors.
6. Never mount the alarm mine where children are likely to be.
7. Never mount the product near to any flammable substances, this could result in a fire risk.
8. Always mount the alarm wire as close as possible to the ground but not so low that a trespasser could walk over the trip wire.
9. Make sure that the trip wire is high enough not to be triggered by household pets, wild animals or stray animals.
10. Ensure that no other persons have Lawful access to the alarmed area, ie; Postman, Milkman, Gas/Electricity inspectors, Neighbours who share access, persons making deliveries and any other callers to your property.
11. Always wear eye protection when alarming/disarming the alarm mine.
12. Only to be fitted by persons over 18.
13. The manufacturers do not accept any responsibility for injury or damaged however caused.
Alarm Mine signs can of course be a good deterrent and warning.
